Dave Stahl Sacred Orchestra
After years spent contemplating and molding ideas, Dave Stahl formed The Sacred Orchestra in April of 1999. The group started as a 14-piece big band with 3 singers and immediately began to expand in size, adding more vocalists and instrumentalists until its current aggregation as a 23-piece studio orchestra with 10 female vocalists. Since its inception, The Sacred Orchestra with Dave Stahl has conducted numerous worship services in churches of many different denominations largely in the Southeastern region of Pennsylvania. From York, to Lebanon, to Kutztown, to Reading, to Lancaster, the Orchestra continues on a busy schedule.
The mission of the Orchestra is to reach out to people of all ages and musical tastes through the great music of the church in resounding praise to God. The desire is to draw back into the church those who might have drifted away and hopefully reunite them with their local church and God. Spoken word, given primarily by the Orchestra members, is a key part of the worship services and the music highlights that spoken word.
The Sacred Orchestra with Dave Stahl is a 33-piece ensemble presenting sacred music programs in churches. Each program (worship service) features music and the spoken word incorporating well-loved hymns of the past as well as contemporary musical settings. Musical arrangements of the hymns are written in a cross-section of styles and are largely from the pens of Rodney Miller, Chris Heslop, Gary Topper, Dave Stahl, and Bob (Doc) Mulligan.
A group of 10 ensemble and solo vocalists are complimented by 4 woodwinds, 3 trombones, 4 trumpets, 2 French horns, string quartet, keyboards, synthesizer, bass (electric and acoustic), drums, percussion and the leader, Dave Stahl. From the still, quiet sounds of flutes to the glorious blaze of brass in resounding thunder the music and spoken word are an uplifting religious experience, bringing praise to God.
