All arrangements are scored for Dave's big band instrumentation (Dave's part, 1 alto, 2 tenors, bari, 4 trumpets, 3 trombones, rhythm) and are featured exactly as recorded. However, some charts have been re-scored for a "standard" big band set-up as well (5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, rhythm...unless otherwise noted). Choose whichever version works best for your band, knowing that the overall sound of the chart remains the same for both.

Happy samba with a few stylistic changes thrown in the mix. Dave used this as his opener for his last "live" recording. Lead trumpet kicks things off, then a trio of flugel, alto sax & flute plays the head. Solos for flugelhorn and alto sax, as well as brief spots for drums and bass.

This infectious, energetic chart makes a great closer. Almost quasi-ska at times!. Solos for trombone and alto sax, with a brief written muted trumpet statement in the bridge. An open drum solo segues into a full band shout, complete with some optional screaming octaves in the lead trumpet part.
